Previously working from Gippsland, Ellen Sayers now works on the unceded land of Wurundjeri, Melbourne. Sayers utilises the layered process of casting to create her bronze and concrete sculptures. Transferring drawing impressions into wood, through to concrete, plaster, wax or bronze this process renders the object as a map of its previous textural life. Her works speak to the wider system or governing bodies of control and the implication that it has on us day to day. Sayers was a finalist for the Montalto Sculpture Prize in 2017 and was the recipient for the Majlis Encouragement Award in 2014 and 2018.
